Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Tracker for Brightline ("the app", "we") handles your information when you use the app on your iPhone. The app is an independent project and is not affiliated with Brightline Trains Florida LLC.

Short version

The app reads your location once when you open it, only to figure out which Brightline train you're on. It does not store, transmit, or share your location with us, with any third party, or even between launches. We do not run accounts, ads, analytics, or backend servers that touch your data.

What the app accesses

Location

When you tap "Detect train", the app requests a single "When in Use" location reading from iOS. That reading stays on your device and is used immediately to find the closest active Brightline train. It is not saved beyond the lifetime of the detection, never written to disk, and never sent off the device. You can revoke location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Tracker for Brightline.

Network

The app fetches Brightline's public GTFS-Realtime feed (feed.gobrightline.com) over HTTPS to get train positions and stop ETAs. This is a public feed; we do not authenticate or include any identifier of you when fetching it. We do not operate any server in this flow — the app talks to Brightline's feed directly.

What we do not do

Data shown in Live Activities

While a trip is active, the app updates an iOS Live Activity (Lock Screen / Dynamic Island) using data fetched from Brightline's public feed. Live Activity content is rendered by iOS on your device. We do not push updates to it from any server. The Live Activity ends when you stop tracking or after the trip's scheduled end.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL.
